Detroit Diesel Series 60. The most reliable diesel engine put out by Detroit Diesel in the last 50 years.
No leaks. Top-end is inspected and tight. Bottom-end is also inspected and tight. Uses relatively little oil. Great compression. Rings tight. Cylinder walls are as smooth as a baby's butt.
Excellent power for 80,000-pound loads. 10-speed Eaton transmission. Good torque. Pulls full loads right up

New coolant and air hoses throughout the powertrain. All heater hoses replaced, including sleeper heater hoses and all engine AC hoses, including all new AC hoses in the APU.

New shock absorbers, bushings and new bottom brackets all around.

New quarter-round trailer and cab rock guards.

New plus-sized APU A/C condenser. New cooling fan.

New APU A/C dryer. All new connectors.

Tri-Pac Gen II Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). Strong Heat and AC for the truck when the engine is off. Way cheaper than running the truck engine. Kicks butt.

New Alcoa High-Polish Rims on steer tires. Chrome caps that don't fall off, but can still be knocked off. Quick-fill valve stems that actually work without leaking, all around.

All of the Drive Wheels are lightweight aluminum, not steel.

Four new Goodyear air bags on drive axles. Also, two new air bags for the cabin sleeper.

New leaf springs on both drive axles. Great for carrying 90,000+ overloads. Be sure to pump up those tires!

Like-new reconditioned radiator. New bushings, vertical mounts. New engine A/C condenser behind the radiator (not shown).

Roomy doghouses. Inner door-mounted fire extinguishers on both sides.
PS. This engine runs best with Howes Diesel Treat in the fuel tanks. The cost-savings with MPG and increased performance make it a wise choice.
